Supporting local women into entrepreneurship
The She Inspired Business Playbox is a programme designed for budding women entrepreneurs looking to create their own business, especially those in the green and sustainable sectors. Working in collaboration Zinthiya Trust, Community Enterprise Engine, and Future We Want, we're helping 60 women in Leicester learn and test their business skills, and another 60 women move towards their employment goals.
Through a series of co-designed workshops, group and individual coaching and mentoring support, as well as the opportunity to explore entrepreneurial skills through running their own pilot business, those who sign up to the programme will create their own path to prepare for the world of self-employment. Every entrepreneurial journey is unique, and every business owner has their own circumstances and challenges to overcome; through the She Inspired Business Playbox, we aim to give women in Leicester the tools to forge their own path and support one another by creating a strong network of peers, agencies, mentors and fellow startup enterprises.
The programme will not only introduce participants to key business skills and enterprise mindsets, but will also look at how new businesses plan ahead for a carbon zero - or even carbon negative - behaviours from the outset, helping the city's startup scene contribute to local decarbonisation plans.
Our She Inspired Business Playbox workshops include:
The Urban Farm: Piloting Business for Women Entrepreneurs
Solvers Studio will be using our collective business and service design skills to facilitate a journey of prototyping community business, mainly through establishing a 'distributed urban farm' in the city. This will provide the opportunity for programme participants to run their own micro-farm from home, and then testing out their business skills in managing product supply, marketing and then selling, all in the relatively risk-free environment of working as a collective and sharing business responsibilities and profits.
The aim is not only to help women in the city develop their business skills, but to also contribute to a fairer and more equitable food supply in Leicester, one that promotes localism and healthy eating, as well as creating a culture of sharing, connectivity, cooperation and collaboration.
