Our ComplexCity events are for those who want to see the bigger picture. They'll help you open your mind to a new way of thinking that allows you to see the whole from the parts - to go from linear thinking to Systems Thinking. If your work life - or personal life - involves tackling complex and 'wicked' problems, or you're simply interested in addressing the urban challenges that impact our daily lives, our ComplexCity events could be exactly what you’re looking for.
In this series, we explore Systems Thinking as a way to tackle issues in our cities, navigating our way through understanding systems and interconnections, collective inquiry into problems, and generating and sharing new ideas. People will gather to learn, share knowledge and skills, and create new thinking and approaches to some of the most pressing challenges faced by urban places and their citizens.
“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
You’re invited to come and take part in our immersive events over three sessions:
Whilst booking for individual sessions is available, we encourage you to sign up and attend all three sessions for maximum benefit.
This series is an engaging introduction to systems thinking, so come along to play, explore, connect, create and reimagine a world with like-minded changemakers.

You’re invited to come and take part in our immersive events over three sessions:
- Tuesday 26th April (13.30-17.00) - Exploring Systems: through structured play, you’ll work in small teams to compete with others and gain a greater appreciation for interconnections within systems, how priorities and decision-making contribute to shaping outcomes and the impacts made on people, place and planet
- Tuesday 3rd May (13.30-17.00) - Wicked Problems: by engaging with subject experts, you’ll be sharing your experiences, your perspectives and generating ideas to help resolve a systemic problem within our cities. Following a Proaction Cafe format, this positive, engaging, problem-focused process is to lay foundations for innovation and help kick-start action towards potential solutions
- Thursday 19th May (17.30-20.30) - Idea Sharing: following our ‘Ideas & Beers’ format, individuals or teams are able to present their early-stage ideas to get feedback, seek support, and generally move their thinking forward, all in a friendly and informal environment

Get Involved
Our cities are ever-evolving ecosystems. They are places where more and more of us work, learn and live. They are also the incubators of complex, interconnected, and ‘wicked’ problems, rooted in a myriad of causes: outdated systems, power inequities, poor urban design, limited resources and assets, and much more besides.
Our ComplexCity work brings together people from all backgrounds, experiences and interests looking to generate meaningful change for the places in which the live, work and play. If you want to get involved and access our work to help you reimagine your system - especially if it relates to housing, health, education or environment - get in touch via complexcity@solvers.studio to kickstart our collaboration. We'll be adding more detail to our line-up in the weeks leading to the series.
